SIGHTSEEING HIGHLIGHTS
Day 1. Ayers Rock Resort, Kata Tjuta (Olgas), Uluru
(Ayers Rock) Sunset Drinks
Flights to arrive prior to 1.00 p.m. Welcomed
on arrival for transfer to your hotel. Enter Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and
travel through the striking desertscape to the giant domes of Kata Tjuta. These
36 rocky domes support an amazing array of native fauna and flora, some of which
can only be found in and around this formation. Take the opportunity to walk
into the majestic Olga Gorge keeping an eye out for ancient petroglyphs (stone
carvings). Continue to sunset strip and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine as
you watch the changing colours of Uluru at sunset. Accommodation: Ayers Rock
Resort, choice of hotel.
Day 2. Uluru Sunrise, Kantju Gorge, Mala Walk, Cultural Centre, Alice
Springs
Sip champagne and watch as the sun's first rays strike Uluru giving a show
of brilliant colours. Take a guided walk to Mutitulu waterhole. See cave
paintings and hear the legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming). You may
substitute this to climb Uluru. Continue along the Mala Walk to learn the story
of the Mala (Hare Wallaby) people. Tour the base of Uluru, stop at Kantju Gorge
and see Tapudji (Little Ayers Rock). Visit the Cultural Centre and Maruku Arts
and Craft Cooperative. This afternoon depart for Alice Springs and view Mt
Conner as you pass through vast cattle stations, arriving in 'The Alice' at 7.00
p.m.
