Day 1. Ayers Rock Resort, Kata Tjuta (Olgas), Uluru (Ayers Rock) Sunset and Drinks
Welcomed on arrival at Ayers Rock Airport prior to 1.00 p.m. and transfer to Ayers Rock Resort. This afternoon drive out to the magnificent domes of Kata Tjuta, where the cluster of 36 dramatic rock formations dominates the western skyline of the park. Take the opportunity to walk between the sheer rock walls into majestic Olga Gorge, following the natural creek bed. Admire the plant life that survives in this rugged environment, some of which is so rare that it is only found in and around these distinct sandstone monoliths. Keep an eye out for ancient petroglyphs (stone carvings) on the walls and valley floor. Traditional tales of the Tjukurpa (Dreamtime) period are closely linked to the domes of Kata Tjuta. Late in the afternoon, reboard the coach and return to Uluru to enjoy a glass of wine whilst enjoying the light show created as the last light of the day creeps across Uluru at sunset.
Accommodation: Ayers Rock Resort for 2 nights, choice of hotel.
Day 2. Uluru Sunrise, Liru Aboriginal Walk, ‘Sounds of Silence’ Dinner
Enter Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park for sunrise viewing over Uluru. Join Aboriginal guides and an Aboriginal language interpreter for the fascinating Liru Walk. Retrace the path of Aboriginal mythological ancestors and hear stories told by the traditional owners, learn about the history of Uluru and bush skills. Tonight, experience the ‘Sounds of Silence’ as you dine on the finest cuisine in the solitude of the desert. Listen to the haunting tones of the didgeridoo, and as the sun sets, enjoy the sounds of silence and a guided tour through the spectacular ‘Outback’ night skies. (BD)
