Full Day, Depart: 6.45 a.m.
Depart Darwin and stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery. Continue via Pine Creek to the Katherine Museum. After lunch, enter Nitmiluk National Park, home to 13 stunning gorges, and stop by the Visitor Centre before joining your guided cruise between the sheer sandstone cliffs of Katherine Gorge. As you glide along the tranquil waters of this ancient watercourse, enjoy informative commentary from your guide detailing the area's diverse plant and wildlife, and explaining the significance of the galleries of Aboriginal rock art which adorn the walls of the gorge. Keep an eye out for crocodiles and the splendid array of birdlife. This afternoon visit Edith Falls where there's time for a swim in the paperbark and pandanus fringed pool. return to Darwin stopping to purchase dinner; a Top End speciality, barramundi fish and chips (own expense).
