Day 1. Alice Springs - Town Tour
Welcomed on arrival Alice Springs Airport for transfer to your hotel. This afternoon, tour the sights including the historic Telegraph Station, views of the township from Anzac Hill and visits to School of the Air and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Overnight: Alice Springs Resort (budget option stay Frontier Oasis).
Day 2. Camel Farm - Kata Tjuta (Olgas) - Sunset Drinks
Travel through the MacDonnell and James Ranges, crossing the dry river bed of the Finke River. Short stop at Noel Fullerton's Camel Farm before stopping to view Mt. Conner in the distance. Arrive Ayers Rock Resort and check-in to your hotel. This afternoon tour to Kata Tjuta (Olgas), 36 rocky domes dominating the western skyline of the park. Take a walk into majestic Olga Gorge where some of the plants you will see are rare and only found in and around these rock formations. Stop at sunset strip early evening and enjoy a glass of wine with our compliments while watching the everchanging colours of Uluru (Ayers Rock) as the sun sets low over the desert sands. Overnight: Ayers Rock Resort for 2 nights - choice of accommodation.
Day 3. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - Sunrise Viewing - Ayers Rock - Mutitjulu Waterhole - Base Tour -
Cultural Centre
Enter Uluru National Park for sunrise viewing over Ayers Rock, followed by a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole, where generations of aboriginals have drunk from its life-giving waters. See ancient cave paintings, and learn about the aboriginal legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming). The more energetic may substitute this portion of touring to climb Ayers Rock. Learn about the geology of Uluru, the flora of the region as you continue along the Mala Walk to hear the story of the Mala (Hare Wallaby) people who lived at Uluru. Visit the Cultural Centre and Maruku Arts and Craft Co-operative for an opportunity to see aboriginal artists at work and to purchase artifacts. Remainder of the day at leisure for optional activities, including scenic flights over Uluru or camel rides. Opportunity tonight to dine in the desert at the famous "Sounds of Silence" - an unforgettable experience as you listen to the tunes of the didgeridoo, then, as the sun sets, enjoy the sounds of silence and a guided tour through the stars lighting the great Southern Skies (must be pre-booked, additonal cost).
Day 4. Ayers Rock
Morning at leisure to soak up the atmosphere of the resort. Visit the Information Centre, browse through the shops, or simply relax by the pool. Afternoon transfer to Ayers Rock Airport.
