Touring from Alice Springs, visit the Outback Camel Farm and see Mt Conner. Explore famous Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park over the next couple of days before returning to Alice Springs.

Itinerary

 

Day 1. Alice Springs, Camel Farm, Ayers Rock Resort, Kata Tjuta (Olgas), Uluru Sunset
Travel by luxury coach from Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock) via the rugged West MacDonnell and James Ranges. Stop at the Outback Camel Farm where you can take the opportunity to ride a camel (own expense). View the unusual flat-topped Mt Conner before continuing to Ayers Rock Resort. En route, your Driver/Guide will provide an informative and entertaining commentary on the local geology, desert flora and fauna, and some of the traditional customs and beliefs of the Aboriginal inhabitants. Journey to Kata Tjuta to view the immense 36 rocky domes.It is thought that these remarkable formations were once a single rock many times the size of Uluru. Join a guided walk into majestic Olga Gorge, keeping an eye out for ancient petroglyphs (stone carvings). Late this afternoon, travel to Uluru to enjoy a glass of wine while you admire the world-famous light show. Marvel at the ever-changing colours as the Outback sun sets over this majestic Australian icon.

Day 2. Uluru Sunrise, Mala Walk, Cultural Centre, Kuniya Sunset Tour
View the sunrise over Uluru while enjoying a tea or coffee and visit the waterhole of Mutitjulu. Alternatively, climb the mighty monolith to enjoy unhindered Outback views. Join the fascinating Mala Walk, enjoying a base tour of Uluru. See caves, rock art and Kantju Gorge. Visit the Cultural Centre and Maruku Arts and Craft Cooperative. Enjoy some time to relax at the resort before joining a local guide for the Kuniya Walk. Hear the fascinating legend of Kuniya Python Woman and other ancient stories. Learn about bushtucker collection and preparation.

 

Day 3. Ayers Rock Resort, Alice Springs
Enjoy the morning at leisure. Board the luxury coach early in the afternoon and travel east from Yulara via Curtin Springs. Continue east to Erldunda before turning north on to the famous Stuart Highway. Journey through Outback landscapes to the town at the very heart of the Red Centre, Alice Springs. En route, see groves of ancient desert oaks and the beautiful West MacDonnell Ranges. Arrive approximately 6.30 p.m.
