3 Days Alice to Rock & Kings Canyon

Day 1. Camel Farm - Ayers Rock Resort - Kata Tjuta (Olgas) - Sunset Viewing & Drinks
Depart Alice Springs 7 a.m., crossing the dry river bed o f the Finke River. Short stop at Noel Fullerton's Camel Farm then through the huge cattle station of the Mount Ebenezer and Curtin Springs. View the Mt. Conner Mesa in the distance before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. Check in to your hotel before leaving at 2.30 p.m. (3 p.m. October to March) for tour to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), 36 rocky domes dominating the western skyline of the park. Opportunity to walk to majestic Olga Gorge. The easy to moderate walking trail along the gorge follows the natural creek which flows between two of the domes. Early evening stop at sunset strip and enjoy a glass of wine with our compliments as you watch the magnificent colour changes of Uluru (Ayers Rocks) at sunset.
Overnight: Ayers Rock, choice of accommodation.
Day 2. Sunrise viewing - Ayers Rock - Mutitjulu Waterhole - Cultural Centre - Kings Canyon.
Enter Uluru National Park for sunrise viewing over Ayers Rock, followed by a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole. See ancient cave painting and learn about the aboriginal legends of Kuniya Tjurkurpa (python dreaming). The more energetic may substitute this portion of touring to climb Ayers Rock. Learn about the geology of Uluru, the flora of the region as you continue along the Mala Walk to hear the story of the Mala (hare wallaby) people who lived at Uluru. Tour around the base of Uluru, visit the cultural centre and Maruku Art & Craft Cooperative for an opportunity to purchase artifacts from Aboriginals. This afternoon, depart for Kings Canyon in Wararrka National Park. Passing red sand hills covered in spinifex, arriving Kings Canyon Station, a huge cattle station also specialising in camel herding for export to Arabian Countries.
Overnight: Kings Canyon Resort (budget option stay Kings Canyon Lodge).
Day 3. Scenic Rim Walk - "Garden of Eden" Oasis - Alice Springs.
Kings Canyon located on the western edge of the George Gill Range is a huge formation of weathered rock and beautiful waterholes, which support ancient plant life. The area of the park has been the home of the Luritja people for the last 20,000 years - their word Watarrka, refers to the umbrella bush that proliferates here. For the more energetic, enjoy an early morning guided walk of Kings Canyon Rim for views of the surrounding countryside and the towering orange wall (good supportive footwear, hat and water are essential - the walk is around 3 hours and requires a reasonable degree of fitness). Walk through the eerie rock formations of the "Lost City" and "Garden of Eden", alternative easy walk along the shaded canyon floor is also available. This afternoon, travel on to Alice Springs arriving at 6.30 p.m.
