Itinerary

Board the luxury coach in Alice Springs and travel via the rugged West MacDonnell Ranges. Admire mountain views as we make our way to Kata Tjuta (Olgas). En route, stop at the Outback Camel Farm where you have the opportunity to ride a camel (own expense). On the approach to Kata Tjuta, you will start to appreciate the enormity of this cluster of 36 giant rock domes. This remarkable formation was created from eroded sediment from a now long extinct mountain range, which stood to the west of the Kata Tjuta site. On arrival at the great domes, join a guided walk following the natural creek bed between the sheer walls deep into Olga Gorge. Learn of the domes' formation, the ancient stories that surround them and of the flora and fauna of the area. Some of the plants you see are not found anywhere else on earth. Look for ancient petroglyphs (stone carvings) in the gorge floor. Late in the afternoon, travel to Uluru (Ayers Rock) for sunset views. Wine is served just as the day's light starts to withdraw across the desert plain. As the light fades, the rich oranges and reds of Uluru evolve through a series of blues to become a deep purple. Continue to Ayers Rock Resort, where the tour concludes.
