Itinerary

Day 1. World Heritage Purnululu Nat. Park, Echidna Chasm, Sunset Drinks
4 Day passengers join in Kununurra at 7.30 a.m. Departing Kununurra, we travel to Purnululu National Park, recognised with World Heritage-listing in 2003. This awesome and spectacular wilderness is the home of the Bungle Bungle Range, rising majestically above the surrounding plains. More than 20 million years of erosion and river movements have formed these huge black and orange striped domes. Travelling via Warmun (Turkey Creek), we head east down the 4-wheel drive Spring Creek Track, which leads us into the national park. We make some morning stops before lunch, then spend the afternoon exploring the northern part of the park. Hike into Echidna Chasm, a mysterious cleft in the rock. Proceed to our exclusive safari camp for dinner.
Two Night Stay: Purnululu Safari Camp, in the heart of this World Heritage wilderness. Enjoy the comfort of our permanent tents. (Canvas tents, bedding and towel provided, shared facilities.) (LD)

Day 2. Bungle Bungle Range, Cathedral Gorge, Piccaninny Creek, Bushtucker
We rise early this morning and drive to the southern side of the Bungle Bungle massif. Explore majestic Cathedral Gorge - perhaps test out the acoustics within this natural amphitheatre. An easy-paced walk along the dry bed of Piccaninny Creek is the best way to inspect the domes up close. Discover hidden gorges and diverse vegetation. Your well-informed guide will bring the natural history of the Bungle Bungle domes to life - these strange beehive formations will seem even more fascinating once explained. Learn about the Aboriginal people's rich knowledge of the area and the cultural significance of the park. You can even learn bushtucker and bush medicine skills. There is time for an optional helicopter flight over the domes (own expense). Enjoy drinks as you watch the sun set over the domes, then return to camp for a hearty dinner. (BLD)

Day 3. Old Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing
Examine the ruins of Old Halls Creek, the site of the first gold discovered in Western Australia. See China Wall, a curious quartz ridge, before continuing to Fitzroy Crossing. Home of the mighty Fitzroy River, the settlement is surrounded by some of Australia's largest and most productive pastoral properties.
Accommodation: Fitzroy River Lodge. (BLD)

Day 4. Geikie Gorge Hike and Cruise, Broome
Enjoy a delightful morning cruising and hiking Geikie Gorge in the company of a traditional Bunaba land owner. This unique cruise allows you to experience this spectacular area in depth, with its whitewashed cliffs and limestone eroded by annual floods. View the mighty Fitzroy River before completing our tour in Broome, approximately 5.30 p.m. (BL)
