Day 1. World Heritage Purnululu Nat. Park, Echidna Chasm, Bungle Bungle
Sunset
Even if you're short of time, you can still experience World Heritage Purnululu National Park in full with this two day 'Spectacular' safari. Departing from Kununurra, we travel to Purnululu - an awesome wilderness region and home to the unique and striking domes of the Bungle Bungle Range. Today we explore the northern part of the massif. Hike into Echidna Chasm, a mysterious cleft in the rock. Take in fantastic sunset views before we head to camp for a delicious home-style feast, a great reward after a full day. This evening, enjoy the unique wilderness experience of staying within the national park, without having to 'rough it'. Our tented cabins feature lighting, off-the-ground beds and linen, while the camp comes complete with an enclosed dining area, toilet and hot shower facilities.
Accommodation: Purnululu Safari Camp, in the heart of this World Heritage
wilderness. Enjoy the comfort of our permanent tents. (Canvas tents, bedding
and towel provided, shared facilities.) (BLD)
Day 2. Bungle Bungle Domes, Piccaninny Creek, Cathedral Gorge, Bushtucker
This morning we rise early and drive to the southern side of the Bungle Bungle massif. Explore majestic Cathedral Gorge and perhaps test out the acoustics within this natural amphitheatre. An easy-paced walk along the dry bed of Piccaninny Creek is the best way to inspect the unique domes up close. Discover hidden gorges and diverse vegetation. Your guide will bring the natural history of the Bungle Bungle Range to life - these strange beehive-like formations will seem even more fascinating once explained. Learn about the local Aboriginal people's rich knowledge of the area and the cultural significance of the park. You can even learn about bushtucker and bush medicine skills from your knowledgeable and experienced guide. There is time for an optional scenic helicopter flight to discover the vast expanse of the range in full (own expense). Later, board a light aircraft and fly to the township of Kununurra (flight included). Your Bungle Bungle Spectacular concludes on arrival at Kununurra Airport at approximately 5.00 p.m. (BL)
